Citizen Forester Woodland Management at Daisy Nook, Oldham

The Details

Join us for a day of woodland management and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

This event will focus on thinning trees in an area of woodland at Daisy Nook Country Park. Thinning is the removal of some trees to improve the growth of others; it can improve the diversity of both species and ages of trees in the woodland and increase the amount of light reaching the forest floor. We are carrying out this work to maintain a healthy and sustainable woodland that supports local wildlife and the surrounding community.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults and older children. The work we’ll be doing will involve using tools like loppers, secateurs, pruning saws, bow saws and billhooks.

Please arrive at 10am for the tool safety talk. The event will run until the work is completed so on some days we may finish earlier than 3pm – please let us know if you will be coming later in the day and not arriving at 10am by emailing team@cityoftrees.org.uk
