Citizen Forester Woodland Management at Broadway Park, Trafford

The Details

Join us for a day of woodland management and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

We are carrying out this work to maintain a healthy and sustainable woodland that supports local wildlife and the surrounding community. The work will involve using a range of tools, including pruning saws, bow saws, secateurs, and loppers. Litter pickers will be provided, and our staff will provide all the necessary training needed to carry out the tasks.

We will be felling dominant trees with hand tools to improve species diversity in the woodland.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults.

Parking/public transport

• There is limited residential parking along Elm Drive and Cherry Tree Walk. Please be mindful of leaving space for residents to use their driveways.
• Bus 15 operates from Manchester Oxford Road to Crofts Bank Medical Centre bus stop, which is a 2-minute walk away from the site, and buses 245 and 247 operate in the area.

About the site

Broadway Park is a public park. The area where we will be working has short grass, uneven but flat ground, and may be muddy. A portaloo will be available on site for volunteer use.
