Citizen Forester Tree Maintenance at Foggs Fold, Wigan

Join us for a day of tree maintenance, giving our young trees at Foggs Fold, Wigan some Tree-LC.

Activities we will be completing on the day include:

• Vegetation clearance
• Replacing matts and woodchips around existing trees

We will be carrying out this work to ensure that these trees reach establishment and create woodland areas that will support the local wildlife whilst also responding to the climate emergency.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary.

This session is suitable for adults and older children. Vegetation clearance may require the use of sharp tools. If you want to bring young children to this event, get in touch.

About the site:

Foggs Fold site is a publicly accessible green space in a residential area. The area is grassed over and there are no formal paths. A portaloo will be available on-site for volunteer use.

A member of City of Trees staff will greet you at 10 a.m. If you arrive later, please look for our gazebo and flag. You are welcome to join us for part of the day; however, if tasks are completed early, please be aware that the session may finish earlier than advertised.
