Spotlight on…
Bupa
This season, City of Trees partnered with BUPA as part of their Healthy Cities campaign. Through Healthy Cities, Bupa aim to support people’s health in a changing climate and help individuals make the link between their health and the environment. By supporting City of Trees, they’re helping to create greener, healthier neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester – connecting people with nature, improving air quality, and encouraging time outdoors to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
To launch the partnership, Bupa has funded the planting of close to 5,750 trees and 20 of our Citizen Forester days across Greater Manchester. Our Citizen Forester volunteer programme aims to encourage our communities to get out into nature, improving their local environment while supporting their health and wellbeing, aligned perfectly with the Healthy Cities ethos.
Many of the trees were planted on school grounds by school children, inspiring the next generation of urban foresters. Over 650 trees were planted by pupils at Salford City Academy. With support from our team, the children got the chance to develop green skills whilst spending time in nature. As the trees grow, they will act as an accessible green space for years to come.
We have also welcomed lots of the Bupa team as Citizen Foresters this season. The brilliant volunteers got involved in a variety of events across the region, including tree planting, woodland maintenance and even leaky dam building.
