Citizen Forester Woodland Management at Big Wood, Manchester

The Details

Join us for a day of woodland management and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

The aim of the day will be to plant understory shrub tree species in the woodland to improve diversity. If time permits, we can also tackle some dominant species once the tree planting is complete.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults. The work we’ll be doing will involve using tools like loppers, secateurs, pruning saws and bow saws.

Please arrive at 10am for the tool safety talk. The event will run until the work is completed so on some days we may finish earlier than 3pm – please let us know if you will be coming later in the day and not arriving at 10am by emailing team@cityoftrees.org.uk

• There is residential parking along Peel Hall Road and the surrounding residential streets – roughly 5 minutes from Big Wood. Please be mindful of leaving space for residents to use their driveways.
