Citizen Forester Pond & Ditch Management at Big Wood, Manchester

The Details

Learn how to manage ponds and ditches to benefit biodiversity with City of Trees!

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults.

Please arrive at 10am for the tool safety talk. The event will run until the work is completed so on some days we may finish earlier than 3pm – please let us know if you will be coming later in the day and not arriving at 10am by emailing team@cityoftrees.org.uk

  • There is residential parking along Peel Hall Road and the surrounding residential streets – roughly 5 minutes from Big Wood. Please be mindful of leaving space for residents to use their driveways.
  • The nearest Metrolink stop is Peel Hall, next to Big Wood.
  • The nearest bus stops are Peel Hall Metrolink Stop A (Stop ID: MANGTDJM), Peel Hall Metrolink (Stop ID: MANGTDJP) and Simonsway Stop H (Stop ID: MANGPTGM) where the following bus routes stop: 103, 130, 716, 729, 768, 810.
