Session 10: Identifying invasive and non-native species for management – Available to book from November

The Details

Join us for the tenth Green Skills session being held at Stretford Meadows as part of our Seeds of Change programme, where you will learn a range of green skills, from seed, to tree, to woodland. You do not need to have attended the previous session to come along.

This session will involve learning to identify common invasive and non-native species commonly found in our urban woodlands. Meet a member of our Urban Forestry Services Team, and learn all about their pathway into the environmental sector. We will then carry out practical habitat management tasks involving the removal of invasive species from Stretford Meadows. All tools and training will be provided.

This session is for young people aged 16-25, looking to learn new skills, gain experience in the environment sector or just to try something new! If you have any questions or would like any more information, contact Nina at nina@cityoftrees.org.uk.

Parking/public transport

• The nearest Metrolink stop is Stretford, which is a 20 minute walk from the meeting point.
• Bus 263 operates between Oxford Road Station and Poplar Road bus stop, which is a 10 minute walk from the meeting point, and bus 15 operates between Oxford Road Station and Sandy Lane bus stop which is a 5 minute walk from the meeting point.

About the site

Stretford Meadows is a public site with woods and meadows. The area where we will be working sometimes has uneven ground, thick vegetation, and informal paths through the woodland. A portaloo will be available on site for participant use.
