What to expect:

Watch bats in action: Observe bats foraging and commuting in their natural habitat

Learn how to use bat detectors: Listen to different bat calls using bat detectors

Identify different species: Learn to identify different bat species based on call and flight patterns

Whether you are a beginner or wildlife enthusiast, this session will provide you with the opportunity to put your knowledge in to practice and gain hands-on survey experience.

Please note, this session is following up from a workshop hosted on the 25th of February to introduce bat ecology and survey methodology.

It is desirable that you would have attended this before conducting a survey. If you did not attend the workshop, please inform us and contact lizzie@cityoftrees.org.uk or jimena@cityoftrees.org.uk.

About the site

  • Lees Brook Nature reserve is a publicly accessible green space, in the heart of the Medlock Valley. It is is a haven for wildlife and is used for walking, cycling and horse riding.
  • The area where we will be surveying has a combination of formal and informal paths.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
  • Free residential parking is available.
  • Toilet facilities will not be available for this site.
