Woodland Creation Accelerator Coordinator 

Carly Harper Joined City of Trees in January 2023, 

Carly has over 12 years of experience working in community and stakeholder engagement. With her expertise in networking and community relations, Carly has successfully led numerous projects to completion, building strong relationships with stakeholders and community members along the way. She specialises in stakeholder and community engagement and has trained in facilitation, engagement practices, experience-based design, and public speaking. 

Before joining City of Trees, Carly developed and implemented citizen engagement projects, wide-scale consultation activities and business development in Museum services, Health Services, the Environment Agency and not for profit organisations. 

Carly's passion for community engagement is evident in her work, and she is committed to building meaningful relationships with stakeholders and community members. She has a proven record of facilitating open and honest communication between project teams and communities, ensuring that everyone's voices are heard and valued. 

As project coordinator for the Woodland Creation Accelerator Fund, Carly collaborates with Local Authorities, Organisations, and other stakeholders to identify potential planting sites and explore opportunities to increase woodlands across Greater Manchester.  

Carly’s favourite tree is the Alder (Alnus glutinosa), They have soil improving abilities, provide habitat for a variety of wildlife and their root systems prevent soil erosion making them a great all-rounder!
