As a part of our ongoing schedule of nature activities at the Whitworth, City of Trees invites you to give this micro woodland some Tree-L-C! Autumn is the ideal time to prune trees, which is vital to support their long term health and prevent disease. Through opening the canopy up, we’ll also make this corner of the site a tidier and nicer place to be.
We’ll also undergo other maintenance activities such as weeding, litter picking, bramble bashing and meadow management, depending on what’s most needed on the day. Tools and gloves will be provided but please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the activity and weather. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Time: 11am-1pm
Meeting Point: The rear of the park, next to the children’s park, accessed via Denmark Road, M15 6FG
Transport: There is very limited parking around Whitworth Park with a small amount of street parking along the park boundaries. There is a very small private car park on Acomb Street, M15 6FQ called Greenheys Community Car Park which can be used.
There is a bus stop on Oxford Road immediately beside Whitworth Park with multiple services running throughout the day. The nearest train station is Oxford Road a 24 min walk from the park.
