Citizen Forester Woodland Management at Stretford Meadows, Trafford

The Details

Join us for a day of woodland management and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

We are carrying out this work to maintain a healthy and sustainable woodland that supports local wildlife and the surrounding community.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults and older children.

The work we’ll be doing will involve using tools like loppers, secateurs, pruning saws . We will be using these tools open up pathways by pruning back some trees and removing encroaching bramble.

Please arrive at 10am for the tool safety talk.

Time & Location

  • 10 am – 3 pm at Stretford Meadows
  • Closest entrance to working area is next to the allotments on Lesley Rd, Stretford, Manchester ///times.shack.notion
  • A member of staff will be at the entrance from 09:50
  • Working area will be around ///humble.loved.deck, look out for our flag!

Parking/public transport

  • There is parking near the allotment at the end of Lesley Road, but please be mindful of allotment users
  • The site is a 25 minute walk from the Stretford Metrolink stop, and buses 23, 15 and 255 all operate in the area

Stretford Meadows is a Public Park within the Mersey Valley. The area where we will be working has uneven ground, thick vegetation, and informal paths through the woodland. A portaloo will be available on site for volunteer use.
