Citizen Forester Tree Planting at Starring Road Open Space, Rochdale

Join us for a day of tree planting and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

We are planting trees in response to the climate and biodiversity emergency . They create healthier, happier communities, tackle the climate crisis head on, reconnect us to our natural world, and provide essential habitats for wildlife.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for all ages.

Parking/public transport

• There is on street parking is available on Starring Lane and limited on street parking on Starring Road. There is additional parking on Starring Way, which is slightly further from the tree planting area (approximately 10 minutes).
• The following bus routes stop near by: 455, 456, 457, 458, 587, 590, 848, 850, 891, 892.
• The nearest train station is Littleborough – a 10 minute drive or 25 minute walk from site.

About the site

Starring Road Open Space is a public green space. The working area is on top of a small hill and can be accessed via a gentle slope or through Barkers Wood, via steps. A portaloo will be available on site for volunteer use.
