Citizen Forester programme for 2017 announced

City of Trees has announced the dates and details for it's Citizen Forester volunteering programme - encouraging people to get get their hands dirty and help green Greater Manchester. 

Whether you’re a green guru, an eager novice or just fancy helping out occasionally at some tree planting or orchard creation - we want to hear from you!

Whether you give 1 day, 1 hour or 1 week, by becoming a Citizen Forester, you’re spreading the word about the City of Trees movement and helping us to achieve our vision of planting a tree for every man, woman and child across Greater Manchester.

Our events take place 10am - 1pm the first Thursday of every month at locations across the region. Tools, training and equipment provided - please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

All are welcome - from students wanting to give something back, individuals or those who have time to give as part of a employee volunteering programme.

  • 2 March - Tree planting - Snipe Clough, Oldham
  • 6 April - Trans Pennine Trail Improvements - Trafford
  • 4 May - Wildflower planting - Snipe Clough, Oldham
  • 1 June - Tree-LC - Parkway Playing Fields, Manchester
  • 6 July - Tree-LC - Snipe Clough, Oldham
  • 3 August - Orchard Management - Lightbourne Green, Salford
  • 7 September - TBC - City Forest Park, Salford
  • 5 October - TBC
  • 2 November - TBC
  • 7 December - TBC
