Citizen Forester Tree Maintenance at Leverhulme Park, Bolton

The Details

Join us for a day of tree maintenance, giving our young trees at Leverhulme Park, Bolton, some Tree-LC.

Activities we will be completing on the day include:

• Vegetation clearance
• Replacing matts, tree shelters, stakes and woodchip around existing trees

We will be carrying out this work to ensure that the these trees reach establishment and create woodland areas that will support the local wildlife whilst also responding to the climate emergency.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for adults, because vegetation clearance may require the use of sharp tools. About the site

Leverhulme Park is a large public park. The area where we will be working has tall vegetation (including thistle) and uneven ground in places. The elevation of the site is mostly flat and there are hard-standing formal paths from the site entrance/carpark to the area we will be working on. The walk from the site entrance to where we will be working will be sign-posted and takes approximately 7 minutes. The ground immediate to where we will be working has no formal paths and will be uneven in places.

A portaloo will be available on site for volunteer use.
