Session 3: Identifying native tree species

The Details

Join us for the third Green Skills session being held at Stretford Meadows as part of our Seeds of Change programme, where you will learn a range of green skills, from seed, to tree, to woodland. You do not need to have attended the previous session to come along.

This session will involve learning how to identify tree species at Stretford Meadows. This will involve learning about the parts of a tree, and practicing using keys and guides to identify tree species on-site. We will also talk about interesting features and habits of trees on the site, to equip you with detailed knowledge of native trees.

This session is for young people aged 16-25, looking to learn new skills, gain experience in the environment sector or just to try something new! If you have any questions or would like any more information, contact Nina at nina@cityoftrees.org.uk.

Time & Location

• 10am – 3pm at Stretford Meadows, Stretford, Manchester M41 9WG.

Parking/public transport

• The nearest Metrolink stop is Stretford, which is a 20 minute walk from the meeting point.
• Bus 263 operates between Oxford Road Station and Poplar Road bus stop, which is a 10 minute walk from the meeting point, and bus 15 operates between Oxford Road Station and Sandy Lane bus stop which is a 5 minute walk from the meeting point.

About the site

Stretford Meadows is a public site with woods and meadows. The area where we will be working sometimes has uneven ground, thick vegetation, and informal paths through the woodland. A portaloo will be available on site for participant use.
