Assistant Project Officer
Will joined the City of Trees Team in 2018 as a Field Surveyor for the i-Tree project, All Our Trees, helping to create a model of the composition and value of Greater Manchester’s forest canopy. In 2019 Will started a new role as Assistant Project Officer with City of Trees where he has been working primarily on the Woodland Futures project in Wythenshawe. In addition he helps to deliver the primary school based project, Trees for Learning and delivering Citizen Forester sessions carrying out woodland creation and habitat management across Greater Manchester.
Will’s background is in conservation and health with a BSc in Marine Biology from Newcastle University and a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Liverpool and clinical experience in several NHS Foundation Trusts including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, The Walton Centre and Wirral Community.
Will has a passion for British wildlife and woodlands and is interested in creating healthy environments for healthy communities. Will spends his spare time surfing, trail running, climbing and hiking and assists other environmental charities and ecological consultancies with bat and bird surveys. His favourite trees are old Sweet Chestnuts for their gnarled, twisted limbs.
