Sam has over 13 years’ experience in the sector, working in a variety of roles for organisations including Greater Manchester Ecology Unit and Tameside MBC. He has recently completed a project for the Forestry Commission leading on The City Forest Park Project in partnership with City of Trees.
Since joining City of Trees full time, Sam has been a key figure within the team leading on the organisation’s i-Tree project, a survey of over 7000 trees across Greater Manchester to establish the composition and value of GM’s forest canopy.
His academic background includes a BSc Combined Hons Geography with Economics and an NVQ2 in Countryside Management via BTCV. Sam regularly delivers training on pruning and tree care to community groups, helping to manage their own woods and orchards.
His interests include orchards, biological recording, home brewing and long-distance running.
