Louisa Smith

Assistant Project Officer

Louisa joined the City of Trees Team in November 2020 as an Assistant Project Officer.

Louisa has a background in conservation biology and wildlife research with ten years of volunteering experience from a range of environmental charities. After completing her degree in Biology with Industrial Experience (BSc) from the University of Manchester, Louisa delivered sustainability-focused careers events for the University before joining City of Trees.

Having developed a passion for martial arts, Louisa now has a purple belt in kickboxing and is the Wellbeing Officer for the University’s Kickboxing Society. Louisa enjoys exploring woodlands and taking photographs of fungi, insects and natural beauty. In her spare time Louisa can be found kickboxing, hiking in the Peak District, baking for friends or with her head stuck in a good book!

Louisa’s favourite tree is the ancient English oak as it supports more life forms than any other native tree, providing habitat niches and protective cover for so much wildlife.
