Gabriel Holmes

Assistant Project Officer

Gabriel joined the team in August 2022 as an Assistant Project Officer. Previously he had volunteered for Essex Wildlife Trust and the RSPB and found he was keen to keep working to benefit the environment. More recently he worked with the Lower Ure Conservation Trust creating wetland and managing woodland in North Yorkshire.

Gabriel believes in the importance of creating and managing habitats that benefits both the local environment and the people that live in it. He puts this into practice when working on the Resilient River Valleys project as part of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund 2.

His favourite tree is the silver birch, because of the fungal communities it creates a network with. He also has a soft spot for English oak as it is the first whip he planted for City of Trees.
