City of Trees in Numbers

13 June 2016

We look back on a successful tree planting season, which saw partners come together to plant over 6,000 trees from November 2015 - March 2016.

As the tree planting season has come to an end, we look back on what the movement has achieved.

This tree planting season (November 2015 – March 2016) we:

  • Planted a total of 6,364 trees
  • Worked with 490 volunteers who donated 1,275 hours of their time
  • Inspired 907 schoolkids to love nature
  • Brought back 99.45 hectares of unloved woodland back into use
  • Created 23 urban orchards

…across Greater Manchester

A huge thank-you to all our volunteers who came out rain or shine to help us plant trees, create orchards, seed wildflower meadows and much more. There is still plenty happening throughout the summer months for you to get involved in. Find out more about how to volunteer with us.

Share your success

If you’d like to tell us about the work you’re doing in the areas of tree planting, woodland management and connecting communities, then get in touch. We can help celebrate and share your success so we can all work together to making Greater Manchester a healthier, happier place to live, work and enjoy.

Remember, whatever the size or scale of your organisation, you can become a partner, and join the movement today.
