Natural World Webinars: The Science of Blossom

Wednesday, 14 April, 2021 - 19:30

For the third in City of Trees’ Natural World Webinars we are pleased to be joined by Rachel Webster, Curator of Botany at Manchester Museum, as we explore the world of blossoms.

We’ll be talking about the trees in flower around Manchester, taking a closer look at some flowers and thinking about the science of blooming.

We know that the arrival of blossom, signalling both spring and sunshine, is close to people’s hearts. So we’re asking everyone, whether you can attend the event or not, to share your pictures, memories and stories with us on social media throughout the month of May using the hashtag #GMBlossomWatch. We’ll be sharing some of these at the event too.

This event is free to attend but if you would like to make a donation to the City of Trees movement you can do this online – or text ‘CITYOFTREES’ to 70085 to donate £3.

The event will be held on zoom. Please register in advance.

Rachel Webster is the Curator of Botany at Manchester Museum, part of the University of Manchester. There are about 900,000 specimens in the Museum’s plant collection including flowers, ferns, seaweeds and more.
